Bric-a-brac: Mazda Blotter (for electric lamps)
|
|
Blotter No. 2289a, March 20, 1915 Albert Frost & Sons, Printers, Rugby, England This promotional ink-blotter extols the virtues of the Mazda "Drawn Wire" electric lamps (or to us bulbs) available at the time. The blotter is two-layer, white printed card on the top and pink blotter underneath. I do not know if this was a Mazda series, a technology series, or Frost & Son general promotional series. By the large serial number one assumes that there were quite a few variations of these blotters. Notice the pip-top glass envelope and multi-filament lamp typical of this era. This example has (thankfully) never been used. The lower quarter had an area for customisation. This particular one is stamped in black ink with; Payne, Howard & Co. |
