| Bijou adapter in brown bakelite with on/off switch

domestic electrification of homes in the UK principally consisted of
electric lights. There were few, if any, wall sockets which were
reserved for the heavy duty appliances. |

It
wasn't until the 1960's that legislation came in to enforce earth

plug system). |
Entry from the Ediswan
(Mazda) 1958 Data Booklet
This fascinating snippet is showing the trade price of bulk quantities of the Bijou Adapter from "The Famous Siemens Ediswan" range of plugs and adpators. I have never seen one in white yet so I presume the brown one was the most popular. I must admit, I have used this type of plug (which is now illegal in the UK), to power a photographic lighting set up as it is so useful. |
