Size (approx): | 75mm x
140mm x 28mm(max) (w,h,d) Weight 124g excluding batteries |
|
Power: |
3V DC, using two AA size sealed rechargeable batteries. Does accept an adapter (undefined but 0.2A, 2mm plug, centre positive) through socket on the right side in the middle (a bit of an odd position). | |
| Case: | Three piece black and silver spray-painted matt plastic case, the third piece being the sculptured keyboard surround. Typical red, white and blue keyboard colours are bold and easy to use. Keys are squishy but positive. Raised Commodore logo was originally silver painted but has rubbed off this example. Top section of the front is made of green, translucent matt plastic with a sloping clear window used as the display filter. This works well with a bight clear display. Black painted Commodore logo metallic label sits in its own recess. | |
| Display: | 7 digit green VFD, with possible eighth digit for negative or error indication. | |
| Features: | Standard four functions, percentages, square, register exchange. | |
| Age: | 1974 | |
| Manufacturer: | Commodore Japan Ltd, made in the Japan, serial No. 67920 | |

Typical member of the early Green Line series but this was a very basic model. From the inside the silver sprayed plastic appears to be translucent with specs of silver. |

| Boards: | The keyboard board (Ref: KB-6313-11 HM-20-40-CB is fixed to the front with 12 screws and has numerous link wires. It is connected to the main cpu board (Ref: PCB200432 ART-200433 Rev-B) with a 14-way ribbon cable |
| Construction: | Remove the two screws from the back of the case. Gently squeeze the silver plastic sides and the back will separate eventually. You have to loosen the adapter socket to lift the main cpu board. |

This scan of the main cpu board is interesting as it uses a main IC before Commodore bought the MOS chip maker. I think the manufacturer is IDT (the logo is a circular integral type maths shape). At the top you can see a big power transistor surrounded by the VF display high voltage circuit. The second SIL resistor array is hidden under the ribbon connector at the bottom. |
