The TM
4356P is an array of nine basic transistor that can be used to switch and
drive the grid of a vacuum fluorescent display in multiplexed digit
mode. A typical configuration for a calculator display is shown
below.

When an input at the "IN" terminal is negative, a transistor "Tr" is in its on state. As a result, the potential at the output terminal "OUT" of the transistor is kept at that of GND, and the display tubes are lighted. When the "IN" terminal is positive, the Tr is off and the potential at the "OUT" is maintained at -33.5V, as a result the display tubes are off. | |
