Comments:

Sits comfortably in the hand with nice smooth sides, but slightly oversized basic calculator. Archaic colour scheme for the keys fits with the brown and orange themes of the 1970s. The logic is Ok but let down by negative roots and no overflow recover. Original black soft plastic case has wrap over and tuck in flap and embossed "Made in Japan" on front. There were at least three versions of the model 30 - another can be seen at Lloyd's 30. |

| Components: | 1 x cpu: NEC µPD940C H52236,
28 pin DIL 1 x 9 digit single tube VFD display round face 2 x transistors 5 x diodes 6 x capacitors 2 x resistor arrays 6 x resistors 1 x transformer: DCT-05 TDK |
| Boards: | The keyboard (Ref G940C GK175-1 Gico Japan) is joined to the main cpu board (Ref 800-PK-E) via a row of 10 stiff wires. The whole subassembly floats free in the case. |
| Construction: | Use the coin slot in the top to gently prize apart the case. Start with the top then right hand side by squeezing in the brown back to release the lugs (one on either side, two on top and bottom). Front then lifts away. |

| Logic comments: | (CE) is used to cancel the last number entered and (C) to clear the whole calculator. |
| There is automatic constant on all four functions | |
| Input overflow is not suppressed, inputting a ninth digit results in overflow error with is recoverable using (CE) | |
| Negative sign is shown in the immediate left digit travelling into the ninth to allow full eight digit negative numbers | |
| Divide by zero shows zero and "E" in the far left (ninth) digit and is not recoverable | |
| Overflow shows the result and "C" (or "E" if negative) in the far left (ninth) digit and is not recoverable | |
| You can use the change sign function in mid number entry | |
| Negative square roots are allowed and result in a negative number |

This 12pp one colour manual measures 140mm x 95
mm. The last three pages are blank except for Printed in Japan on the
back. Ref EH-9036-2 matches that on the back of the calculator.
Text still has the American spellings (i.e. the Warranty covers Labor for 90 days) and has a gap for the territory dealer's details. |
