3V DC using 2 x AA size batteries. It accepts an adapter/charger (3V DC 0.5W EA-17E) through a socket (centre negative) on the top side to the far left. It recommends that you use rechargeable batteries EA-18B. The on/off switch is on the left hand side in line with the Sharp logo and sits within its own recess. | |
| Case: | The base is a “u-shaped” smooth white plastic whilst the front section is matt dark brown plastic. The green plastic display filter sits flat and slightly proud. It gives a bright image and is surrounded by a large metallic gold panel. The panel is printed black and red with designer lines, brand and model number. The keys are squishy with a soft click and work well to this day. A metallic sticker on the lower edge states Made in Korea. There is a small lug on the left hand side, at the top, for a carry strap. | |

Standard Sharp design which is compact and sturdy with a good bright display and sound logic. It is only let down by negative square roots. The original case is soft black plastic with open top and Sharp embossed on the front and Made in Korea on the back. |

| Boards: | The keyboard assembly is attached to the front by one screw and has ID number F1234CC. That one screw can be accessed through a hole in the main board. Main CPU board is hinged off with a 12-way connecting ribbon of stiff wire and centred using a plastic post. The ID mark is F1447. |
| Construction: | Front panel can be prized away by lifting the lugs in the battery compartment and then gently separating two similar lugs at the bottom. For some reason (anti-static?) there is a foil strip on the inside of the back, which is connected to the negative line. |
