Known date of fabrication: 1976
Calculators: above
Secondary ICs: None
Power supply: 6.0V
Display capability: 8 digit + 1 (standard), 5/2 +2 (scientific), small zero notation.
Basic Functions: Four standard plus CE/C
Constant: Selectable by double hit on all multiply and divide only
Advanced functions: Squares, square root, pi, sexagesimal input (not display), change sign, reciprocal.
Scientific functions: Trigonometric and transcendental functions including powers.
Memory: Four function memory (MR/C) (M+) (M-)
No indication of storage

Memory overflow flags error and retains original value
Overflow states:

Input overflow is suppressed
Overflow shows “E” in first digit
Zero divisor shows "E" in first digit
Negative square root shows “E” in first digit

Overflow recovery: None
Negative sign: Far left (ninth) digit
Bugs: Divide to negative zero once
Comments: Early attempt at the classic Casio FX series with more functions than earlier models but still some limittations.  Transcendental (logs) and trigonometric results are limited to five and occasionally six decimal places respectively.  Power raising shows the intermediate step of using a log so that (2)(Xy) shows "0.6931474" then (8)(=) gives "256".  Interestingly this is one digit of precision more than if you used the (ln) key.  Scientific display is limited between 1039 and 10-39 and will overflow if the mantissa exceeds five digits.
