Undated (195?) set of puzzles.

Box of six metal puzzles consisting of lid in two colour white card and base with glued on light green background and front dark green and black frontage. Approximately 140mm x 115m x 27m (w x h x d) which probably had internal dividers which are missing in my example. Instructions are missing in my example. Made by Bell, London, England. Call for help. I cannot find out amuch about Bell Toys and Games, Ltd., other than it appears to be a British company that tended to focus on TV/Movie-related board games in the late 1950s and 1960s (Dixon of Dock Green, Double Your Money, Emergency Ward 10 et al) - any help would be most welcome as the web appears to be pants for info on vintage toys (see some info below). I am unsure of the contents of this set as my example came with parts for up to ten puzzles. I have included descriptions for those I think are original. From the image design and printing quality this looks like late 1950s - but may be even earlier. |

In the 1947 British Industries Fair there was an advert for, and I presume an exhibition of, Bell (of Primus House, Willow Street, London, EC2) and Tutokraft: Manufacturers of Toys and Games including Chemistry Outfits, Puzzles, Doll's furniture, Paint Boxes, Educational Wooden Kindergarten, Constructional and Metal Toys, Dolls and Doll's Clothing, Sewing sets, Indoor and Outdoor Games, Dartboards, etc. 2.
