Metal Puzzles: Merit 12 Type 1
Dated (1955) variation of the large set of the puzzles.

Box of twelve metal puzzles consisting of lid and base in four colour printed card.  Approximately 224mm x 145m x 22m (w x h x d) with an internal light blue plastic moulded tray with stippled top surface.  It has oval and circular sections to hold the puzzles.

Instructions are printed on the underside of the lid.

(c) by J&L Randall Ltd MCMLV (1955).  Potters Bar, Made in England, Cat. No. 4343.

High quality set of limited variance puzzles: mostly type 1 puzzles which are a bit repetitive, but two more interesting puzzles to grapple with.

Whilst this has a copyright date of 1955 on the box - it could be anything between 1955 and beyond - any info would be most helpful. A suspected earlier edition can be seen on the Type 2 page.

Type 1 puzzle. Triangle and paper-clip diagonal pass-through.  Basic shapes with simple separation. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull apart.
Type 1 puzzle. Triangle and circle diagonal pass-through.  Basic shapes with simple separation. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull apart.
Type 1 puzzle. Crossed-circle and paper-clip diagonal pass-through.  Basic shapes with simple separation. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull apart.
Type 1 puzzle. Crossed-circle and fluted-circle diagonal pass-through.  Basic shapes with simple separation. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull apart.
Type 1 puzzle. Twin L-shaped loop diagonal pass-through.  Basic shapes with simple separation. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull apart.

Type 1 puzzle. Fluted-circle and paper-clip diagonal pass-through.  Basic shapes with simple separation. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull apart.

Type 4 puzzle. Twin barred-circle twisted manoeuvre pass-through.  Basic shapes with simple separation. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull/twist apart.

Type 2 puzzle. Locked in shape.  The small ring is held on the V-shaped holder, seemingly locked in place by a bigger ring which it cannot go though.

To solve gather both rings together and get the large ring to go over one end of the retainer - it will then become obvious.

Type 3 puzzle. Keyhole manoeuvre. Complex main shape, small ring and oblong ring.  This shape can get a bit mixed up so getting it to the starting position pictured is essential.  You push the oblong ring through the small circle and as if doing keyhole surgery, manoeuvre the oblong through the main shape and withdraw.

Type 1 puzzle. Triple crossed-circle diagonal pass-through.  Basic shapes with simple separation. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull apart, again and again.

Type 1 puzzle. Triple triangle diagonal pass-through.  Basic shapes with simple separation. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull apart, again and again.

Type 1 puzzle. Long-armed crossed-circle diagonal pass-through.  Simple variation on the two crossed-circle above. Line up the two linear gaps at 90 degrees and pull apart.
